Truth be told, we don’t make a huge deal out of Mother’s Day around these parts. We usually spend it together at home, avoiding crowded restaurants and terrible traffic. It’s actually kind of nice.
We do, however, do gifts…because who doesn’t like presents? We just make sure we buy them way in advance to avoid the last-minute rush!
This year Mom decided she’d like to be involved in the bouquet I was planning for her (you can’t sneak anything past that woman!) and picked her own colours of red, yellow and indigo.
We also decided to make an arrangement for my Aunt and drop it off as a surprise. I love how wild it looks!
I also did a larger all-white arrangement for Mom as a coffee table display, using some of her antique Chinese pottery.
Though I initially wanted to use hydrangeas, our living room is open-air so I chose hardier flowers that would hold up better in the heat: Chrysanthemums and Eustomas.
I’m going to end this with a cute photo of Mom posing with her flowers. She may just be smiling because I didn’t break anything, but I’ll take it as a win. Hope everyone else had a lovely Mother’s day too!
