Designing a seashore-themed invitation suite has made me suddenly remember my huge seashell collection. I’ve always had a bit of a shell habit, which I guess is to be expected from growing up on a tropical island: I return from every beach I go to with at least a handful of seashells. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the shabby-chic, coastal living look that shells lend themselves so well to, so it’s taken me a while to figure out what I’d do with them.
Maybe a seashell and coral vignette? Or shell topiaries? I’m not sure I’m ready to commit to a shell chandelier, but I will admit they can be quite lovely when used as an accent piece. Everything in moderation, I suppose.
