Camo Pants: Joe’s Jeans (similar) // Shirtdress: Free People // Shoes: Steve Madden (similar) // Bag: Michael Kors (similar)
It might not look it, but the top and over throw-over I’m wearing are actually two parts of one lovely shirtdress: I’m wearing the slip tucked in as a blouse and the outer “dress” part unbuttoned and loose. I actually bought it with the intention to wear it exactly like this – open and flowing in lieu of a kimono.
Don’t get me wrong. I love kimonos, but because I’m a bottom-heavy hourglass, it’s tricky to find ones that don’t make me look broader than I actually am. After much trial and error I think I’ve finally figured it out (long sleeves and hemlines are key!) but it’s just a heck of lot easier and more flattering for me to toss on a gauzy, unbuttoned shirtdress instead. This one, with its ruffled hem and metallic threads, is particularly beautiful and because of its khaki hue, surprisingly versatile. So much so that I think it’ll be popping up in many more summer OOTDs…and yes, maybe even as a dress one of these days!
