You already know I’m very partial to duochrome eyeshadows, but I was downright blown away by Urban Decay’s Moondust Eyeshadow in Solstice. I bought it because it was more glittery than the other duochromes I already owned, but really wasn’t expecting to be quite so “wowed”.
It. Is. Gorgeous.
Calling it a duochrome is kind of an understatement, because I can pick out at least 4 different shades it magically shifts between: brick red, magenta, teal and green.
In these photos, I wore it just on the centre of my lid to enhance another favourite duochrome of mine – Ardency Inn Modster Eyeshadow in Peacock – but I think it might have stolen the show entirely. Clearly I’ll have to do a look with just Solstice next…and possibly pick up a couple more Moondust shades too. I’m eyeing up Scorpio and Ether too!
Update: After swatching all the Moondust colours again in store, I ended up buying Cosmic, Zodiac and Glitter Rock instead.

October 1, 2015 at 12:01 pmHey you! I recently picked up some Moondust shadows but they are FALL OUT CITY. Do you use fingers to apply? I’m thinking I need to use a flat packing brush and Fix+ AND apply before my foundation. Sparkly pores are gross.

The best luck I have had applying it to avoid fallout is to use UD primer potion, followed by blending NYX’s jumbo eye pencil in Milk over my lid (http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/jumbo-eye-pencil/NYX_001.html). The pencil is creamy and sticky, which helps the pigment stick and not go anywhere. Plus, the white really helps it pop. I also put a dusting of loose powder on my cheeks and under eye area before applying Solstice (I pat it on) and brush it away after I am done. Any fall out from application lands on the powder and is swept away.

August 3, 2016 at 10:14 amHi Sara, I’m not sure what lipstick I’m wearing here but the only eyeshadows I have on are UD Solstice and AI Peacock. It’s mentioned and linked in the last paragraph of the blog. Hope that helps!

August 14, 2016 at 12:39 pmTis the magic of duochromes! You can actually get a very similar effect with JUST the duochrome shade, but I like a bit more of a defined and matte-ish crease.
