As far as weeknights go, last Thursday was a bit of a wild one! First, Dawn invited us to join her at the Roberto Cavalli fashion show and opening party at MBS.
The traffic was so terrible I was convinced we’d miss the whole thing, but lo and behold – the show had just barely started when we arrived. Clearly, the industry itself likes to be fashionably late as well.
Overall, the Fall/Winter 2014 collection was gorgeous. I’m not the biggest fan of the season’s predominant flame motif, but the slinky, Gatsby-esque 1920’s silhouettes were poetry in motion.
This was my favourite gown of the night.
And here’s something for the guys. I’m 99% sure this is a Zoolander reference.
After the show, we checked out the newly-opened Cavalli store (where I fought a very hard battle against buying this dress) before zipping off to the Ion for the next big party!
Now here’s where it gets tricky, because the evening’s second act is a bit beyond description. You’ll have to use your imagination.
Picture your favourite club: awesome thumping music, a packed dance floor, waiters trying to force champagne into your hands, beautiful people wall-to-wall…and then add aisles of makeup. Why? Because the crazy kids at Division Communications turned Sephora into a nightclub. I kid you not.
It was overwhelming – we couldn’t decide if we should party of shop! Spoiler alert: we shopped. A lot.
We did however take a short break to meet Beyonce’s choreographer, Jonte Moaning (of the Single Ladies’ dance fame). Nobody, but nobody, dances in heels like this man right here.
And to top it all off, we were sent home with cookies! Yes, holding one this close to my face without putting it *into* my face was indeed torture.
But that was literally the lowest point of my night, which I think kind of says it all. Big awestruck Thank You to Division for managing to cram all my favourite things into one wild Thursday!
P.S. I must have gotten blackout-drunk on lipgloss fumes and shopped my way through the night because I woke up with all this stuff I don’t remember buying. Pardon the crummy iPhone snap, but I’m still reeling a little.
It looks like I bought….Urban Decay’s Naked 2 Palette (Dawnie bought the Original, which is my absolute favourite palette ever), B6 Vitamin-Infursed Complexion Prep Spray, Naked Skin Beauty Balm / Ardell Lashes in Black Wispies / Sephora Collection Matte Eyeshadow in 5th Avenue, and Nano Lip Liners in Native Nude and Royal Rosy.
Eep!
