review: tarte park ave princess vol. II

August 29, 2015

The thing I love most about Tarte’s Park Ave Princess Contour Palette is how sleek it is – it’s got a contour, highlighter and blush all in one slim case, which takes up much less space than three separate compacts would. If you travel as much as I do, this is a big bonus. Even if you have tons of makeup storage space and don’t travel often, it’s a time-saver having those three items in one place when you’re in a rush.

Ironically, I’ve noticed myself reaching for this a lot on days where I tell myself I don’t have time to contour. It’s like my brain has categorised this as an advanced blush routine, which I think says a lot about how easy and quick this is to use. I’ll be posting a full look with this tomorrow.

Tarte Park Ave Princess 2

The palette includes a full-sized pan of Tarte’s best-selling Park Ave Princess bronzer (a neutral matte tan colour) and a half round pan each of Glisten (a peachy pink blush with a gold shimmer) and Champagne (a shimmery champagne-hued highlighter). Champagne is the only colour you can’t buy individually, though I believe it was available a few years ago as a single.

The compact itself is sturdy, and I like that they didn’t add bulk by including a brush with it since I tend to prefer using my own anyway.

Here’s what the colours look like swatched – they’re great for quick and subtle everyday sculpting:

Overall, this would make a excellent palette for someone who’s just starting to explore contouring, as the shimmer in the highlighter and blush make for a more forgiving finish compared to an all-matte contour. Because of the pretty packaging, it’s also got great gifting potential. Just putting that out there in case you’ve already started your Christmas shopping. (Don’t laugh – I started months ago!)

Great post! I have volume I and find it so easy to use and useful all the one palette. So keen to try out volume II, the blush looks gorgeous <3

Thank you so much for stopping by! I do love a good multi-tasking palette – it’s easy to find a contour/highlight duo, but what really makes this one stand out for me is the blush. It’s probably not different enough from volume 1 for you to need both, but…maybe for science? 😉
