Product Reviews Rouge Bunny Rouge The Highlighter Chronicles

the highlighter chronicles: rouge bunny rouge

May 1, 2015

I can’t tell you how excited I was to do a full face look with Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Sea of Clouds. Before I go any further, I should mention that this has a light scent to it that reminds me of Guerlain’s Meteorites. It’s not a strong smell, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re really sensitive to scented cosmetics.

I actually find the scent very pleasant, so it didn’t bother me at all to lay on a thick coat in all the usual spots: in a “C” along my cheekbones/temples/browbone, down my nose, on my cupid’s bow and in the inner Vs of my eyes.

It went on like “liquid platinum” (as described by an awestruck Adam), but it magically blended out to a lustrous glow. To me, it looked less like I was wearing a highlighter and more like I had super healthy skin – as if I’d been getting weekly facials, drinking more water than I needed and sleeping 16 hours a night.

For all it does, calling it a highlighter almost seems crude; I’d sooner describe it as a radiance-enhancing skin luminizer. The finish was pearly white on my skin, and I couldn’t detect an obvious sparkle to it at all.

Though it’s not evident in these photos, Sea of Clouds can also be built up to a fairly shimmery sheen if you so choose – an attribute that makes it quite special. I’ve actually worn it bold a couple of times now, but was clearly so distracted by my own sparkle that I forgot to take photos. Oops! If you’d like to see what it looks like in full bling mode, you can have a look at my swatches (and read my full review) here.
