BECCA Product Reviews The Highlighter Chronicles

the highlighter chronicles: becca

March 19, 2015

Glowing, highlighted skin seems to be the thing for spring, and I’m on board in a big way. If you recall, I’ve been more than a little obsessed with highlighters since Christmas, so it’s nice to know that the dewy skin I’ve been rocking is on trend!

I’m still sampling products and experimenting with different combinations to come up with the perfect glow, so you’ll be seeing a lot of highlighter babble on here for the next little while.

It’s a bit tricky to photograph highlighter well, so forgive me for the slightly blurry photo but this particular shot just happened to be on the best angle to show the glow.

Today’s recipe consisted of 2 layers of Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Pearl, dabbed on my cheekbones and down the length of my nose (over my BB cream). After I set my base with loose powder, I went over my cheekbones and nose again with a thick layer of Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Moonstone. You can read my review of the liquid and powder versions of Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecters here.

On my eyes, I used L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Perpetual Purple, highlighted on the inner corners with a pale shimmery pink from my Revealed 2 palette and blended out through the crease with Make Up Store’s micro shadow in Glam Peach, a.k.a my favourite crease shade in the world. I use it so regularly that I actually have a brush reserved just for it!

But back to highlighters. Becca SSPs are great at creating anything from a gentle glow to a moderate sheen, as you can see here. I’m working on a more detailed review on these products next for anyone who isn’t familiar with them or isn’t able to swatch them in person. Here’s are a double of darker photos from the same series which were underexposed to show off the SSP effect. The gleam captured here is actually very similar to the way it looks in real life (click photo to enlarge).
