BECCA Product Reviews The Highlighter Chronicles

the highlighter chronicles: becca afterglow

April 2, 2016

Ever since Becca launched their Afterglow palette, I’ve been fighting the urge to snap it up. I already own individual pans of the Moonstone and Rose Gold highlighters, so it seemed really pointless to buy a palette for only 3/5 unique shades…

But then I left Moonstone in Singapore, and suddenly I had 1/5 more of a reason to buy this! Ok not really, but just work with me here.

Becca Afterglow Palette 1

The palette packaging is much prettier than their standard round compacts, and far less bulky which makes this ideal for travel. It includes 3 highlighters – Moonstone, Rose Gold and Topaz – as well as Wild Honey and Flower Girl, both classified as blushes but in reality more like a bronzer/blush respectively.

One of the biggest draws for me was that I could use this as an all-in-one travel palette. Rose Gold and Topaz are too dark for me to use as highlighters, but I told myself I’d use them as eyeshadows.

I put that to the test with this look and used the whole palette to do my eyeshadow, contour, highlight and blush.

I was already familiar with texture and finish of Becca’s pressed Shimmering Skin Perfecters when I purchased this, so I’m happy to be able to confirm that the quality of this palette is exactly the same as their regular-sized highlighters. Which is to say, excellent.

It was my first time trying their blushes, but I thought they were great too: not powdery or hard, and pigmented without being so OTT that I had to worry about clown-face.

Becca Afterglow 5

Overall, I’m extremely pleased with my purchase and have already worked this into my regular rotation. I love palettes that have highligher, blush contour all in one place…but even if I had to dig around my vanity for individual pans of this stuff, I would.

I mean, that glow though.

It’s definitely worth it if you’re able to wear these as shadow colours. Gotta love multi-purpose palettes!
