I’m a little back-logged on my highlighter chronicles, but seeing as how we’re coming up to summer and surely about to be inundated with new illuminator releases, I figured I’d better start playing catch-up. Unfortunately, I’m doing so with a very elusive beauty: Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Starlight Illuminator.
Seems like I bought mine right before it sold out, and for some reason Starlight has yet to be restocked online or in stores.
But don’t worry – if you like the sound of an ivory highlighter with an almost imperceptible red flash, then you’ll be happy to know that MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade is pretty much an exact dupe.
Anyway, here’s what it looks like on my face. It seemed to have the tiniest bit of a coating to break through (most likely some kind of overspray to keep the lines of the pattern sharp) but it wasn’t a big deal. A few extra swishes around the pan and my brush was very well loaded with pigment.
As you can see, it packs a punch in terms of shine. What I like most about it is that its reflect colour is a very natural warm ivory on my NC15 skin. It’s really a perfect shade for pale girls who want something more interesting/less stark than straight-up white, but can’t quite pull off gold.
This is such a beautiful highlighter and it’s totally perplexing to me that Anastasia Beverly Hills no longer carries it. Thankfully, as I mentioned above, it can easily be interchanged with MAC Lightscapade…so much so I can safely say that owning both is kind of redundant. Lucky for me, I’m a shameless hoarder.
Alternatively, if you’re not opposed to pink tones in your highlighter and NEED some shimmery art deco-embossed glitz in your life, the Illuminators in Riviera and Peach Nectar are still available.

April 5, 2016 at 2:25 pmI hope so too Rae – I have no idea why they’d halt production on something so beautiful! I can only assume it’s to push their Glow Kits?
