What a mouthful of a name! Awafujisukashi, or #19 for simplicity, is one of the three SUQQU eyeshadow quads I picked up while I was in Tokyo, and also part of their spring 2015 collection. It contains a frosty white-pink duochrome (similar to but more pronounced than the one in #18 Sakuraori), a pale periwinkle blue, a rich satin brown and a light shimmery copper.
The standout colour for me in this quad is the duochrome. It reminds me a little of NARS Cassiopeia, which I liked in theory but found too bold. This had a much softer, more elegant sheen.
To be honest, Awafujisukashi was an impulse buy for me. I usually shy away from blue in general but this periwinkle just looked so pretty. Plus I knew for sure I didn’t have anything else like it already, which is really saying something given the size of my makeup collection!
As I’ve mentioned before, the magic of Suqqu eyehadows is their ability to layer together and create completely different colours. Fittingly, my favourite way to wear this is to haphazardly blend all the colours together into a multi-dimensional taupe.
It never ceases to amaze me that four seemingly incongruent colours can merge into such a beautifully complex, wearable shade. Any other eyeshadows I’ve tried this with have just cancelled each other out or ended up looking powdery or muddy, so I suppose that’s the magic of SUQQU in a nutshell!

August 7, 2015 at 12:14 amIt really is a surprising outcome, considering the individual colours. I think that’s what makes this quad so special and unique to me. Unfortunately the periwinkle alone doesn’t show up very well on me, but considering what a good taupe this makes I’m willing to overlook that 😉

August 3, 2015 at 8:57 pmI’m an awful person who doesn’t speak Japanese, so when I saw the title, I actually thought you’d just slapped your hand on the keyboard a few times in frustration. I am not worthy. D:
But anyway, you look amazing!

August 7, 2015 at 12:13 amLol! To be completely honest, I thought exactly the same when I first read about this quad – it seemed like a very random jumble of letters at first. Full disclosure: I actually saved it in my autocorrect because I’m still unable to spell it properly without a google search!
