NARS New Launches Product Reviews

nars x sarah moon holiday 2016

November 5, 2016

I briefly mentioned the NARS x Sarah Moon collection a couple weeks ago on Instagram, but it’s just so pretty that I wanted to put up all the rest of my photos from the media preview last month as well as some swatches I’d taken. The preview party was hosted in an art gallery, which was the perfect venue to display large-scale prints of Sarah Moon’s photographs as well as the makeup itself.

I think all attendees would agree that the gifting sets stole the show. The lucite box sets especially were like little art pieces themselves! I didn’t get a good shot of them at the gallery, but here’s a group shot with my Get Real Lip and Eye Set, featuring a tube of Black Moon Audacious Mascara as well as 2 limited edition mini Audacious lipsticks in Leslie and Bette (swatches below):

The other lucite box set on display was the Glass Metropolis Audacious Lipstick Coffret, featuring 8 mini Audacious lipsticks in (L-R) Sarah, Anita, Marlene, Rita, Olivia, Sandra, Charlotte and Bette.

Other gifting sets included the Give In Take Dual-Intensity Eye & Cheek Palette

…the Look Closer Eyeshadow Palette which includes 4 neutral eyeshadows and a Larger Than Life Eyeliner in Via Veneto..

NARS Sarah Moon 2

…two Cheek/Lip Palettes in Recurring Dare (behind) and True Story (in front, swatched below) which each contained 3 blush shades, a highlighter and a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil…

…and a mini Velvet Lip Glide Coffret that includes 3 limited edition shades (Chez Claude, Plato’s, No 675) as well as 3 permanent ones (Bound, Unspeakable, Toy).

If you’re not into sets or palettes, there are also individual items from this collection: eyeshadow duos, nail polish, blush, falsies, kohliner and Moon Matte lipsticks, all of which are limited edition.

NARS Sarah Moon 1

I was most intrigued by the Moon Matte Lipsticks, which are fomula-wise entirely new to NARS. These are probably the most matte-matte bullet lipsticks I’ve tested in a long time that weren’t horribly drying and uncomfortable to wear. They’ve been getting great reviews from other bloggers too, so I hope NARS makes this formula permanent one day! Currently, there are only 4 colours available – 3 shades of red and 1 brownish-nude.

The other standout amongst the collection’s individual items was the Indes Galantes eyeshadow duo. Both duos are beautiful, with Quai Des Brumes having the prettier and more complex shimmer shade (in my opinion), but Indes Galantes takes the cake for overall being the more unusual/creative colour pairing. They’re swatched here alongside the 2 limited edition Sarah Moon Blushes in Isadora and Impudique.

And lastly, if I had to choose between all the sets, I would probably pick the Velvet Lip Glide Coffret because I’m so in love with the ones I already own! Hope this was helpful to anyone looking for more information on the collection. I’d love to hear what you’ve tried/are eyeing up from it, now that everything is finally available in stores.

They did a great job with the displays – everything looked like art pieces/sculptures! I highly recommend checking out the sets with the lucite boxes 😉
