I love me a good shimmery tulip eyeshadow look, but it’s always a struggle getting the centre of my lid to be as reflective as I like. I think I’ve finally nailed it though, thanks to Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic eyeshadow sticks. I’m so impressed by how stuff builds to the most beautiful metallic sheen with zero effort whatsoever.

Speaking of which, this look was super easy to create. First, I coloured over my whole lid with S-60 (a satin brown) and used my fingers to blend/soften the edges. I did use a brush with a bit of brown shadow to blend it out a bit more, but I assure you this was just me being anal and not necessary at all.

Then I applied S-52 (a shimmery pale pink) to the ball of my lid, going back and forth a little to build up the pigmentation. I tapped over the area to blend out the edges slightly, and then repeated as necessary till I got the right amount of bling.

Once you get the hang of them, eyeshadow sticks can be the easiest and fastest way to do your makeup. You don’t even need a brush! Of course, there are a couple of tricks to mastering the technique. Because the formula sets very quickly, do one eye at a time. Using your fingers is a must as well: your body heat keeps the product workable for longer. Also, to prevent them from dying out, make sure you cap them tightly every time you’re done with them and only sharpen before use rather than after (there’s a cute little sharpener hidden in each Aqua Matic’s base).

I absolutely love the tulip shadow placement. I find it really makes my eyes look bigger which I definitely need! Lovely look!
