Beauty Face of the Day

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Adam had some new camera gear that arrived just in time for T-day, so even though I’d planned to spend the day bare-faced and running errands, I ended up in full “photo” makeup so a certain someone could test out his new portrait lens.

Since a photograph literally flattens a 3D subject into 2D, contouring is so important when you’re getting your picture taken. I didn’t want to overdo it because I know I had to leave the house in this makeup, but even with a light hand my face looks way more sculpted. Look ma, I have cheekbones!

I did the rest of my face in fall colours: a copper cat eye, and a beautiful wine lipstick from…Revlon! If that’s not the drugstore’s best-kept secret, I don’t know what is. Can you spare a moment for me to rave about this gem? Good. Because honestly Revlon’s Super Lustrous formula rivals (and in some cases, bests) that of high-end brands – it went on creamy and delivered rich colour without drying out my lips.

I’m kind of kicking myself for not discovering SL lipsticks sooner, but now that I’ve smartened up you can bet I’ll be checking the drugstore for Revlon dupes before hitting up a MAC counter!

Now that I think about it, the list of face products I used to create this “natural” contoured look is insane so I’ll just list the eye and lip colours!

Eyes: Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow in Copper (all over), Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin (in the inner corners), Make Up Store Microshadow in Louder along the eyeliner and winged out from the crease and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (waterline).

Lashes: Ardell Demi Wispies and Lancome Hypnose Mascara

Brows: Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown

Lips: Sephora Nano Liner in Pleasant Plum, and Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Black Cherry
