Sometimes I like to switch up my morning routine by asking Adam what kind of makeup I should wear. I know, we’re a weird couple. But discovering his beauty likes and dislikes has so far been pretty entertaining – the other day, I almost fell over laughing while listening to him rant for 30 minutes about how much he hates winged eyeliner. Then I drew on winged eyeliner and laughed some more.
Today, he said, “Do a smokey, glittery all purple errthang”. Mmmkay then.
I never think to wear coloured smokey eyes at all, so this was actually a nice change from my boring, go-to browns. See? Tapping your husband for makeup ideas can be an interesting exercise. I totally recommend it if you’re feeling brave (by which I mean: able to disregard wilder suggestions without remorse, or alternatively OK about potentially looking like a streetwalker).
Matching my lip colour was the trickiest part. I started with a base of Lip Tar in Roller Girl, but it wasn’t shimmery or nearly dark enough. Boo. Then I remembered my new Make Up Store gloss in Atomic, and it all clicked together.
Turns out nothing makes purple lips pop like navy glitter gloss. Yes, I said navy – a colour that unusual deserves its own post, don’t you think?
In the meantime, here’s what I used for this look:
Eyes: Sephora Nano Eyeliner in Midnight Black (along lash line) / MAC Eye Shadow in Beauty Marked (to smudge around lash line) / Voodoo (to blend) and Betrayal (centre of lid) from the Vice 2 Palette by Urban Decay
Liner: Sephora Long Lasting Eyeliner in 01 Black
Lashes: Lancôme Hypnôse in Deep Black
Eyebrows: MAC Eye Shadow in Mystery
Cheeks: Make Up Store Blush in Shimmer Dynasty
