Beauty Face of the Day Makeup Tutorials

fotd: rose gold glow

For the record, I’m still not over my obsession with glowy skin. It’s so nice to not be constantly fighting my face and caking on the powder to stay as matte as humanly possible. The grass is finally greener on this side!

But since not everyone has naturally dewy skin, I thought I’d do a look using mix of highlighters this time. For this experiment, I got my face completely matte and layered highlighting products over it to replicate the effect they would have on drier skin types.

First, I set my foundation and concealer with a luminous finishing powder. Since the idea is to glow, not sparkle, I suggest picking something fairly subtle without obvious flecks of glitter in it. Think pearl – not disco ball.

Then, I applied bit of blush to the apples of my cheeks and blended it out with a peachy highlighting powder. Lastly, I brushed a white powder highlighter in kind of a boomerang shape from under my brows to my temples and down across my cheekbones.

I always feel that using different highlighters and applying them precisely gives the most flattering definition, but if you’re in a rush the quick and easy way would simply be to mix a drop or two of liquid highlighter into your foundation. I’ve done this with Benefit High Beam and Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer (for cool and warm skin tones respectively), and both deliver an even dewy glow.

Because a dewy finish can emphasise imperfections, it’s a good idea to finish up with a skin-perfecting powder. I personally like Nars Light Reflecting Powder, but you can check out my list of similar products here.
