Did you know that Pantone names a “colour of the year” every year? This year’s colour is Marsala, an earthy red.
I’ve always been vaguely aware of Pantone’s annual declaration as a designer, but only recently started noticing the effect this forecast has had on the cosmetics industry as well. It’s a smart marketing move, for sure – how trendy a colour is usually has little impact on a (credible) designer’s decision to use it in their work. Makeup however…now that’s a different story.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this palette!
Marsala is already pretty common as a lip and cheek colour, but personally I love it as an eyeshadow. Red-based pigments tend to bring out the green in my hazel eyes, so as much as I hate that I’m buying into the hype, 2015’s Colour of the Year really is right up my alley.
Admittedly, red eyeshadow is not a look for everyone. Adam joking calls this my “Patient Zero” makeup, but since he’s such a big fan of The Walking Dead I’m going to take it as a compliment!
