I’m probably one of the few people who likes makeup that makes me look older. I’ve had freckles, naturally rosy cheeks and a round baby face my whole life, which wouldn’t be so bad if people didn’t associate youthfulness with inexperience. But they do, so for the sake of my career I wear smokey eyeshadow a LAHT.
By contrast, the whole flushed-cheeks-and-stained-lips look has always been a bit too young for me, but since I was only running errands yesterday I figured I’d switch things up and give it a shot. It’s not like I had anyone to impress at Target.
I went heavier on my blush than I normally would, super minimal on the eyes, and finished it off with a tinted lip balm. If I wasn’t struggling with my base and concealer to cover up my last beak out, this would have been a five minute look.
I’m not sure if it’s because I’m just more comfortable with my face now (or if I’m starting to look old!) but I ended up really liking this. It turned out to be more overall flattering than specifically youthful, which was a pleasant surprise. And considering how easy it was to create, it’s kind of perfect for casual weekend activities.
Light eye makeup still made me feel like a little kid though…can you tell?
