Face of the Day Urban Decay

Though I usually like Urban Decay’s Moondust shadows dabbed lightly onto the centre of my lid to dress up my day looks, I figured I’d go all the way with this FOTD since I was testing out their beautiful new Moondust Palette.

For drama, I started with a black base – a lot of their Perversion eyeliner rubbed all over my mobile lid and blended out through the crease. I also tried a couple different methods of saturated glitter application to see what worked best. On my right eye, I scraped off some pigment from Galaxy, mixed it with Inglot Duraline and foiled it onto my lid with a flat brush. This gave me the saturation I wanted, but somehow mixing the powdered shadow with a wet binder seemed to dull its effect.

On my left eye, I dabbed a bit of Too Faced’s Glitter Glue over the black base, and used my finger to pat Galaxy directly onto that. And bingo! Look at that sparkle:

By the way, I rectified my right eye with the same method, in case you’re wondering why you can’t see a difference in these photos. I also traced along my lower lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Empire and patted Magnetic over that, and finished off with a bit of Spectre in my inner corners.

I wasn’t expecting Galaxy to look teal over a black base, considering how different it looks in pan and in swatches – it just goes to show you, this palette is full of surprises. I’m so excited to discover what all the other shades morph into when applied over black. It’s going to be a very sparkly fall/winter for me!

PS I pulled out all my Urban Decay makeup to see how close I could get to a single-brand look, and I sure did come close. Judging by the (very few) gaps in my collection, it seems the next category of their products I need to explore is blush. Being a huge fan of nude shades I’m already eyeing up Video and Fetish, but would love to hear your suggestions and recommendations if you have any.
