fotd: updated jewel eyes
This is actually a recreation of an old FOTD, which I felt compelled to updated because the main product I used – Josie Maran Watercolour Eyeshadows in Maui Teal – was limited edition and no longer available. Although the Watercolour Eyeshadows don’t seem to be carried at Sephora anymore, you can still get them here at QVC, and the permanent shade Forest Green is a decent stand-in for Maui Teal.
I wanted to tweak this do-over slightly to be more sparkly, so I based this look around another awesome liquid eyeshadow: Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadow in Vega.
I love liquid eyeshadows because they’re so versatile. You can be really imprecise and finger-paint them on for a sheer wash of colour, or heap them on and combine them with powder eyeshadow for a punchier look as I did here. I think you can tell which I prefer! I added a bit more sparkle to the look by patting more Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in (solid) Lightyear over (liquid) Vega.
I know this very bright, very glittery look isn’t going to be for everyone, but take it from a person who has been living in neutral shades lately: it can be really cathartic to just go crazy once in a while! I hope you’ll be inspired to break out your loud colours and glitter this long weekend and have fun playing with your stash too.
