I actually made this blue eyeshadow myself, which means I don’t have any useful product details for you (other than adding that it was based on Tom Ford’s Cream/Powder duo in Night Sky, and is also similar to NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Giove). So instead, here’s a random makeup confession:

In my head, dark blue eyeshadow just belongs to my mother.

It’s been her signature colour for as long as I can remember. Eyeshadow colours were pretty limited when she was getting into makeup and navy was the most sophisticated/wearable shade at the time. According to her, the only other widely available options then were bright blue, frosty pink and apple green. Eep!

Though she’s since ventured into greys and olives and purples, dark blue is still very much her jam. So much so that every time I wear it myself, I can’t help feeling like it’s an illicitly borrowed look – as if I’m a six year old who’s gotten into her mother’s makeup bag.

Anyone else feel this way about certain colours? It can’t just be me!

I am typically not a fan of dark blue, but some people can really it off, and this looks incredible. And yes, I also associate dark blue (and… a particular smell of power eyeshadow) with my mom! I get it. 🙂
