Face of the Day SUQQU

As promised, here’s a second look with SUQQU Ex-06 Hanamizuki. I went back to the drawing board with the intention of keeping the colours as clean as possible, since my first attempt was quite muddy.

This time, I let the pinks take centre stage and went easy on the olive shade to avoid overlapping, so the overall look was very soft.

This placement was also very straightforward: With a dense flat brush, I packed on a layer of the medium pink all over my lid. I did the same with the the light pink in my inner Vs, and finished up by buffing the tiniest touch of olive in my outer Vs with a blending brush. Then I drew big ole’ wings on and really impressed myself by getting them straight (for once!) and darkened my lower lash line by dotting liquid liner between my lashes and blending it out with the olive shade on a fine brush.

This second dalliance with Ex-06 has made me infinitely more fond of it. One one hand, I think I was initially trying too hard to get drama from a trio that was almost certainly created for light pink looks…but on the other hand, I’m still not ready to give up my hope of wringing an olive smokey eye from this trio. I’ll have to get on that when I’ve got more time for experimentation!

OMG that blush!!! Your cheek colors are always so perfectly blended. What brush do you use?

I’m paranoid about badly blended blush, and as a result am a little bit fanatical about my blush brushes! I use Hakuhodo SJ110 for more subtle blush colours like this, and Wayne Goss #14 for really saturated/bright blushes.

Such a beautiful, simple look! Really love those colors. I also love that it matches your shirt. Also that lip shade is stunning!
