I love mixing high and low in my wardrobe, and the same preference extends to my face. Though I don’t own much drugstore makeup anymore, there are still some staples that I’ve kept and pull out from time to time. In this instance, it was Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Comfort Zone eyeshadow palette, which is an absolute classic and must-own (to me at least)!
The pigmentation of the shadows is great, the colours are fantastic – I think it’s still the only drugstore palette with a good duochrome – and its so cheap you’d be crazy not to give it a try if you haven’t already. It just cannot be beat for an smokey eye. Case in point:
And of course I paired it with Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Mitchell, because who wouldn’t? I know nude lips tend to be everyone’s first pick with smokey eyes, but the rich mauvey-plum hue of Mitchell is such a good foil to the bronze tones of the eye and I love that it picks up on the red flecks of Comfort Zone’s bottom leftmost shade (which is what I used to line my eyes).
This probably isn’t the most dramatic high/low face I could do, but I think it might be one of my new favourites. What are your favourite high/low makeup combinations?
Face: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light // Cheeks: Burberry Light Glow Blush in Earthy, NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Craving// Eyes: Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone Eyeshadow Palette, Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion, Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara // Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony // Lips: Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Mitchell

March 19, 2017 at 9:08 amI know, they are SO amazing! As much as I like the trios, I wish they had more large palettes in neutral shades, like Black Radiance’s Downtown Browns. We don’t get Black Radiance here, or I’d have snapped it up in a heartbeat.

February 25, 2017 at 7:54 pmI love how this look bucks the usual “rules” for smoky eyes. It’s so 90’s looking to me!

March 19, 2017 at 9:10 amI have a really hard time pulling off pale, pale nude lips without looking like a corpse so by default I tend to do dark eyes and dark-ish lips. I admit to being inspired by Bond girl Severine here though!
