Face of the Day

fotd: crystallized inspiration

March 25, 2016

Sometimes, I’ll see a photo on Pinterest and it’ll just resonate with me. I’ll love it so much that just looking at it or pinning it doesn’t seem like enough – I’ll want to reach through my screen and touch it or possess it or roll around in it or absorb it into my being somehow. The photo of pink crystals below is a good example of what I mean. Once I saw it on my Pinterest feed, I just couldn’t look away. The colours! The facets! I needed this in my life.

Then it dawned on me that maybe the best way to be one with all this beauty was to wear it…on my face. I challenged myself to translate the photo into a makeup look, something I’ve attempted in the past but for some reason never think to do regularly. I’ve got to say I’m quite happy with how it turned out. Obviously I don’t look like a shimmering cluster of crystals, but I think I came pretty close in the colour department at least!

This photo (which Adam took while I was lounging in bed rather than next to the window) is a more accurate representation of how rich the eyeshadow colours were in real life.

P.S. I’d have loved to share more about that beautiful photo of crystals, but unfortunately I couldn’t find any credits despite poking around on the net for a while. If anyone has the proper credit for it, please let me know and I’ll update this post!

Thank you Amy! It was a really fun challenge, but I have to admit it did take me much longer than I’d have liked!
