I personally find mattes best suited to full-on glam looks, but to do them right you really need the time and patience for proper blending…which to be honest I don’t usually have. I made an exception this time in celebration of the Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 4 palette, an all-matte must-have that I reviewed here.
I used…erm…almost every colour in this palette for this look. M-530 Eggshell and M-806 Antique Pink all over the lid, M-620 Grey Brown and M-842 Wine to darken the crease, and M-546 Dark Purple Taue and M-536 Milk Tea to blend. I also used a touch of M-126 Chalk in the inner corner, in lieu of highlighter.
Because I wanted to keep my look super matte, I also used M-546 Dark Purple Taupe as a blush/contour. It’s actually more like a rosy taupe in my opinion, and similar to MAC Haux but warmer which makes it a more ideal crease/transition shade for me personally.
I also used M-620 Grey Brown to fill in my brows, and to my delight it’s perfect match! I am seriously considering the extravagance of buying a single version of this colour (in its own case as opposed to a palette) to use just as a brow powder, it’s that good.
This palette is definitely more versatile than I anticipated 9 matte shades to be. I’ve been using it so often that it’s already living on my counter rather in a vanity drawer, and I can see it becoming a fixture in my travel makeup bag since it’s also flat, lightweight and equipped with a decently sized mirror.
