As much as I love wearing makeup, sometimes it’s all a bit much.
I noticed I’ve developed the habit of applying products on top of one another in layers, to the point where it kind of seems silly. Sure, I like to tell myself that two blushes, bronzer, contour and highlighter were ALL necessary – but are they really?
Sometimes, perhaps. But certainly not on an everyday basis, which is what I’ve been guilty of doing lately. For a change, I figured it would be nice to pare back. Way back. Maybe you’ve already seen this on my feed, but just in case you missed it, here’s my crazy personal challenge and the products I kicked it off with.
Admittedly I didn’t stray too far from my regular look, but I enjoyed testing my creativity…it took some thought to put this together with just 5 products when I’d normally use about 10!
Eventually, I hope this challenge helps me appreciate simpler looks, and become more comfortable with wearing less makeup.
I’m looking forward to doing this regularly (every friday, fingers crossed!) and trying a different combination of products each week. Please join in the challenge if you’d like – you can share your looks on Instagram by tagging them #fiveproductfriday.
I used:
Bare Minerals Matte – foundation, concealer, eyeshadow
MAC eyeshadow in Mystery – brows, eyeliner, eyeshadow
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold – highlight, eyeshadow
Becca Beach Tint in Guava – blush, lip colour
Lancome Hypnose Mascara – lashes
