Today’s challenge theme was “Glowing Skin”, which is quite a departure from my usual goal to stay as matte as humanly possible. Growing up with oily skin in a hot, humid country, I think I’ve always just equated glowy skin to being sweaty or greasy. It’s a weird bias I’m trying to get over, so it’s nice that this challenge is pushing me out of my comfort zone.
Still, there’s a pretty fine line between radiant and greasy, and using too much of the wrong highlighter is going to get strangers offering you oil blotters. It’s a tricky balance, and harder still when you have naturally oily skin, but the results can be lovely when done right.
I’m still looking for my holy grail highlighter, but Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfecter is definitely in the running after today! I love the subtle luminosity it gave my cheekbones – just a hair past what a natural sheen would have been, and with the faintest, non-glittery iridescence.
I kept the rest of my makeup neutral and glowing to match. Here’s a better look at my champagne/bronze eyeshadow.
