Today’s challenge was “Gilded Lids” – perfect for the first day of Chinese New Year. In keeping with tradition, I try to use new things for CNY. Almost everything I’d been stockpiling for the occasion was rose gold, so it all worked out pretty well!
This was my first time using Stila’s Magnificent Metals foiled eyeshadow. I’d been curious about them for a long time now, but just couldn’t get over how chunky and uneven the product looked both in the pan and swatched. Plus the mixing solution and palette just seemed really gimmicky and unnecessary.
When I got a sample-sized version of Kitten however – sans mixing accoutrements – I figured I’d give it a fair chance. I applied it dry with my fingers (just patting it on top of my base colour) and was impressed with how glittery it was.
That said, there are tons of glittery eyeshadows out there so I’ll need to experiment more with this to see what makes it special. I’ll likely be breaking it out again day 10 of this challenge.
